Michael Jackson Dead at 50
By Luke Kerr on June 25, 2009

The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, has died at the age of 50.
Jackson suffered cardiac arrest at his home Holmby Hills. Tonight ABC is airing a two-hour special–hosted by Barbara Walters–in memory of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, both who died today.
Word of Jackson's death was first reported by TMZ and later confirmed by the LA Times. Between that time, several news sources reported he was in a coma.
Jackson was preparing for 50 sold-out shows in London. He is survived by three children.

Reguardless of how people felt about him, nobody can deney his talent. I grew up loving the music, doing the dance moves, having posters up on my wall, all my male friends had the glove and red leather jacket. I still love the music. I burst into tears when I heard the news, my childhood flased before my eyes. This is a sad day. So what if this doesn't have anything to do with soaps nysam, it's a sad day for alot of people.

It's still a shock to me that Michael is gone. Like I posted somewhere else, inspite of the weirdness and troubles later on in his life, I still enjoyed listening to Michael's songs. There's no denying that he left his mark on the recording industry and inspired many of recording artists along the way. May his soul finally rest in peace.

Because I chose to post it here. It is the biggest story in pop culture right now. You will also find it on TV Guide.com, We Love Soaps.com, etc. We don't just cover soaps, we cover everything that happens during the daypart of television and reserve the right to do so at our discretion.

Michael Jackson was a legend and his passing is being reported on many sites that have nothing to do with music.
I was a baby when Thriller came out, but I remember when I was about 6 years old desperately trying to recreate the Thriller dance in my room. I believe my parents have it on tape (which they will probably hold over my head for the rest of my life). I think I was the only kid who wasn't scared of the music video! LOL! I wore out multiple cassette tapes from listening to them continuously! His songs are timeless and will be just as relevant as they were when they were first released.

The Weather Channel even talked about Michael's passing today, Jamey; so you are so right, post away. Michael was a pop culture icon, a talented artist, and humanitarian. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans.

No problem guys. Luke wrote the post for TV Fan Online, and I just clicked to link it over to DC, because I knew this was the biggest, and saddest story in all of entertainment.

NYSAM. I don't know how old you are but MJ is a legend. If not for him & his brilliant genius there might never have been music videos. His Thriller was the 1st we ever saw on MTV. Before him MTV showed bands standing around playing instruments 1 after another. He changed the dance world when he was in his 20's doing the moonwalk for the 1st time on a TV special. That moonwalk part of the show is the 1 part of that show that remains in everyone's minds. Last night on So you think you could dance they dedicated their show to him. The producer said that ALL of them, dancers, producers, choreographers, MJ was an inspiration to ALL no matter what the age. All the music groups, singers of today credit MJ for their love of music & dance. May he now rest in peace.

The term Legend does not describe Michael Jacksoon. He was a part of America's culture, music and entertainment. Truly a King among musicians. He was a child during Vietnam and a teenager post Vietnam in the midwest.
I was a preteen girl in an Irish Catholic family growing up in Chicago in the 1970s. I loved Micheael Jackson and the Jackson 5. My whole family did. We sang his songs and loved him on the TV with his brothers, all of whom I can still name.
I was a college student in love with Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne when Thriller came out. I loved it. I listened faithfully to it. When I hear Thriller today, I stop what I am doing, I sing it and dance to it. It changed music and dancing and culture.
I had graduated college and was working in my first job when Michael wrote We are the World. Enough said.
Rest in peace Michael. You will be missed. There seems right now a little less to look forward to and a little more to look back at.
Thanks for giving us the space to write.

Ahh, the death of a pop legend. MJ was great back in his day.
Not to be rude to MJ or his legacy, but I found a little joke about his 'child mishap' that was too irresistablt to share.
"Due to the fact that Michael Jackson is 99% plastic, he will be melted down into Lego blocks so little kids can play with him for a change!"
Terrible, yes I know, but funny all the same. RIP MJ.

I agree that Michael was a true talent. What I don't agree with is that a site called DAYTIME CONFIDENTIAL is reporting the story. If Michael had been on a soap or connected to a soap it would make sense. I don't come to this site for sports or world news. Soaps don't get the respect that they deserves as is so let's not waste time on stories that aren't soap connected? I hated it when SOW started giving valuable space to NYPD BLUE and other episodics that didn't call themselves soaps and this is just as irksome.
So if Obama interrupts Y&R I can come to Daytime Confidential to get an update? if the stock market crashes and it is reported during soap viewing hours I can come here to learn about it? Did Ed McMahon die at night? According to Jamey if it happens during the day then it can be covered on here.

I am not really sure why you are so upset that his death is reported here. The man was an icon. They are reporting it everywhere cause he was Michael freakin Jackson.
