Time Traveler's Wife Travels to ABC

ABC is developing a small screen adapation of The Time Traveler's Wife, according to The Wrap. This comes after the big screen adaptation earned almost $20 million at the box office this past weekend.
ABC is working with Friends creator Marta Kauffman and Warner Bros Television on the project. Executives at ABC "believe the complex plot of the original novel will work well in series form, since Kauffman will be able to explore the romantic relationship at the core of the story over the course of several seasons."
Series featuring time travel or flashing forward and backward into the past have met with mixed success on broadcast TV in recent years. ABC found success with Lost, but cancelled last season's Life on Mars and Eli Stone. Both featured time travel or characters with the ability to see into the future. ABC is heavily promoting their new series Flash Forward. NBC cancelled their time travel series Journeyman, allowing Kevin McKidd to join Grey's Anatomy. One of NBC's most popular shows, Heroes, uses time travel heavily in its many plot twists.
