Melrose Place's "Nightingale"

Melrose Place may need more than Heather Locklear if it isn’t careful. In its second week it dropped 23 percent in the adult demo, according to The Live Feed.
Even though the show’s ratings were down, the episode continued to build on the quality of its first episode. The cast is starting to gel, while the introduction of Victor Webster as Ella’s cut throat boss Caleb put a nice dent, at least temporarily, in her self-confidence.
The chemistry between Colin Egglesfield’s Auggie and both Violet and Riley shows promise. I may be falling into the writer’s trap, but I find myself wanting Ella with Jonah and Riley with Auggie. There is plenty of potential relationship drama between those four.
I’m enjoying Lauren’s descent into hookerdom. This week her john was Eureka’s Niall Matter as Rick. Reality has set in for Lauren and a person’s got to do what a person’s got to do to stay in school.
What did you think of Melrose Place’s second episode? Did you enjoy it? Did you think it was better or worse than the first episode?

Dear Lord Victor Webster is just hot I watched him on Days as Nikki, then Mutant X, and Charmed and the guy is just to good looking. Anyway back to Melrose Place I think what hurts the show is that they don't have many characters from the original like 90210 they have Kelly and occasionally Donna and Brenda but Melrose gives us Ashley Simpson as the lead and expects us to watch.

Sydney and Michael are main recurring characters this season, and Jo and Jane return soon. The producers are open to returns from Heather Locklear (who's in talks as we speak), Grant Show, Andrew Shue, and others.
The quality of MP is quite good---much better than 90210. I hope its ratings improve. Since MP is much more adult than 90210, perhaps it would be best paired with OTH instead.
Also, Ashlee Simpson is not the lead actress of this show. That would be Katie Cassidy.

I actually like this show. As I was watching I realized I am in love with Ella. WOW!
Being a fan of Harpers Island it's fun to see Victor Webster & Katie (forget her last name) together again.

Yeah, maybe switching the show to Monday Nights would help the show and move GG to Tuesday?

There isn't a show even on the CW that deserves to be paired with "90210" as a lead-in. Maybe "The Beautiful Life" ... I'll judge after this night about that. What's been clear to me is that "90210" sucks as an lead-in for "Melrose". And they promised a lot of improvement of "90210" with the second season that - besides the look and actual friendships that last longer than an episode - not see.
Actually, with all the sexting stuff and Naomi being all Blair Waldorf of the west coast, "90210" seems more and more like a "Gossip Girl" rip-off.
Because "MP" is actually really good. And it promises a lot. Even though I don't feel Ella with Jonah or Riley with Auggie.
Ella looks hot with David. That's a pairing I would like to see. And Auggie with Psycho Violet. Jonah and Riley can bore themselves to death.
As for switching "Melrose" with "Gossip Girl" ... could work, but then they have to schedule "GG" as the lead-in to "90210".
One reason of doubt I have ... if two teen shows and two young adult dramas airing on one night, isn't it a little bit to much?

I don't know GG and OTH are really good paired together neither lose much audience at all maybe .1 point. I think the problem is those who are watching 90210 are younger than the audience for Melrose? Its strange why more people aren't watching it over 90210 which I tried to like but still force myself to sit through. The CW really missed the mark with not picking up The Body Republic many critics said that was the best pilot the CW had but since it had an actual plot ie younger interns involved in politics it didn't "fit" their network. I really think the CW is going to have to start finding shows that play to the older audience younger people today are fickle they can love a show one season and hate it the next....I speak with experience (I'm looking at you gossip girl)

Melrose Place should be paired with One Tree Hill, and GG with 90210. Then you can have an adult night and a teen night.

I'd pair Melrose with Vampire Diaries....It got HUGE ratings and Supernatural is an older show. It's ratings were down even with VD's big ratings. When VD is more of a soap than MP there is a problem...I'll bet VD fans would like MP, at least the soap fans among them.

Whats going to be paired with Smallville this season? I know its moving to Friday nights and isn't Supernatural usually paired with it?

I hope that they let the show get its footing in and 90210 wasn't a hit out of the gate last year and now the ratings are up so I hope that they don't get trigger happy and let it go.

Top Model repeats?! WTF that is a stupid decision let Smallville be a lead in for something for heaven sakes that shows been on the air and has good enough ratings. Who's running this network?

I really do hope they make some changes in the schedule and don't cancel "Melrose Place". Would be a mistake. The two episodes look better than everything that "90210" has shown in 26 episodes. Has to say something...
@Katiebug9624:
A creepy lady that should have been fired three years ago, after canceling "Everwood" for another season of "7th Heaven".

I agree I like MP a lot, I love Auggie (Colin Egglesfield) and Ella (Katie Cassidy, yes, David's daughter). I think the problem is the pairings (I would pair it with OTH or VD) and have GG and 90210 together. I hope the CW gives it time and perhaps make schedule changes.

hmmm...I guess I'm the odd one out.....I actually liked the first 2 episodes of 90210...it's much better than last season... Melrose on the other hand fell flat for me...It's just not grabbing me....

This remake is no fun, and that's what made the original so great.
And Sydney Andrews is no Amanda Woodward. Not by a long shot.

I also loved watching Victor Webster on MutantX, Charmed as well as his movies. But, I like how cut throat Caleb Brewer, his character is with Ella Simms (played by Katie Cassidy). They have this great chemistry, and it is also great that Caleb doesn't also great that Ella doesn't always get his way. Victor is great as a headstrong, calculating boss.
I watched the original ML, and now watch this one for four reasons: Auggie, Ella, Dr. Michael Mancini, and Victor Webster.
