Amanda Woodward, The Bitch Who Came Back

Ella Simms, the resident, blonde beyotch played by Katie Cassidy on The CW's struggling update of Melrose Place, didn't know what hit her on Tuesday night's episode. That's because the parent soap's original Ms. Nasty Skirt, Heather Locklear, recreated her signature role as scheme queen Amanda Woodward.

Unfortunately, this time around the late Aaron Spelling's "lucky penny" didn't exactly cause ratings to soar. According to The Live Feed, last night's installment of MP, which revealed Amanda to be the secret owner of the posh, PR firm Ella works for, only resulted in a 14 percent bump. I blame it on the lame promos.

Ripping off The Devil Wears Prada is not the way to go when announcing the triumphant return of primetime's most lethal blonde. The CW should have shelled out for a high octane song from Pink or Fergie, and utilized flashback clips from the original show.

Also, the netlet would have been smart to script Amanda's upcoming reunion with former lover/rival Dr. Michael Mancini (played by the well-preserved Thomas Calabro) in Locklear's first episode. If 90210 has taught us anything, it's that the nostalgia factor is the best asset these reboots have going for them. Seeing Amanda spend a whole hour being bitchy to a pack of newbies was like sex with someone you're only moderately turned on by— sorta fun at times, but after it's over you wonder if you really shouldn't have just opted for that novel on your bedside table you've been meaning to read. Hopefully next week will be better. Sidenote: That sex scene between Auggie (Colin Egglesfield) and Violet (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz) was FIYA!  TPTB are insane to get rid of Egglesfield.

I haven't watched the episode yet, but i totally agree about getting rid of Auggie, and actually Violet.

I think they should have just got the girl an acting coach and maybe given her some decent writing and it might have been good...or at least better.

Oh well, hopefully they will be able to come back later..

I so agree with you about Colin. When he got out of that pool.....I didn't hear a word of dialogue. Tongue

I actually tuned in to see Heather Locklear on MP...I tend to agree with this part of your blog Jamey    " Seeing Amanda spend a whole hour being bitchy to a pack of newbies was like sex with someone you're only moderately turned on by— sorta fun at times, but after it's over you wonder if you really shouldn't have just opted for that novel on your bedside table you've been meaning to read. It (hanging around the newbies) made Heather look and seem old .  I wasn't impressed and the whole thing reminded me of watching Lucille Balls' sitcom (Life With Lucy).....ouch

I was left with a "that was it?" type feeling. The letter at the end redeemed a lot of it, but I got the same impression that Amanda should have better things to do than mess around with a bunch of teenie boppers.
