Glee, Up in the Air Lead Golden Globe Nomiations

Glee's Cinderella story. The musical dramedy raked in four Golden Globe nominations on Tuesday. Fox's freshman series was nominated for Best Television Series (Comedy or Musical) and landed Best Acting nominations for Matthew Morrison  and Lea Michele and a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Jane Lynch. Hot on the heels of Dexter's shocking season finale, and record breaking ratings come nominations for its star Michael C. Hall and his onscreen nemesis John Lithgow. Glee wasn't the only new series to land a Golden Globe nomination. ABC's Modern Family also received one.

The Golden Globes, which give out awards in both TV and film, also showed the love to George Clooney's Up in the Air. It garnered six nominations. Rob Marshall's highly anticipated Nine earned five nominations, while James Cameron's upcoming blockbuster Avatar earned four. Summer hits District 9 and Inglourious Basterds also earned nominations. Comedian and Precious star Mo'Nique received a Best Supporting Actress nomination. Woody Harrelson, who starred in Zombieland and played an important role in 2012, earned recognition for his work in The Messenger. Sandra Bullock capped off a standout year with a Best Actress (Musical or Comedy) nod for her role in The Proposal and a Best Actress (Drama) nod for The Blind Side.

Go Jane Lynch! She's fantastic on Glee and everything else she does. Rooting for The Office & Glee this year for TV & Up in the Air for movies. Anna Kendrick rocks it in that movie.

I LOVE that Jane Lynch was nominated! I'm also happy for Julianna Margulies nomination.

Maybe it's because the awesome Season Finale of Dexter just aired and is still fresh in my brain, but I really hope it wins for Best Show, Michael C. Hall for Best Actor or/and John Lithgow for Supporting Actor. It's about time Dexter wins something!

I think The Big Bang Theory should be up there for Best Comedy instead of the old and tired Entourage and Jim Parsons for Best Comedic Actor instead of Matthew Morrison. I like Morrison on Glee, but I don't think he deserved a nomination.

I know some people get tired of 30 Rock winning everything, but I for one couldn't be happier that they're nominated again! Also a great surprise nomination for Modern Family.

Of course Lost got snubbed again! Maybe it requires too much thinking for the Academy.

I watched Glee once to see what the hype was about and I don't get it.  I really don't think it is all that.

I agree that the Big bang theory and Jim Parsons should be nominated, Entourage has run its course.

So both Meryl Streep and Matt Damon got two noms?  not bad, love them both.

Gossip Girl

I can't blame them for not adding Lost into the mix.  I loved loved loved the first three seasons of Lost but then after that it was so hard to keep up with what in the world was going on.  I still watch it but I have to do homework just to follow it....like listning to various podcasts.  I think Lost has outlived its welcome.  If it was on for four years it would have been just right but they had to drag it out to six years and it just kept getting deeper and deeper.

Lost, I loved last season and I don't feel like the show has run it's course. I hate that this is the last season of Lost, but if it's amazing I'll be happy. Maybe the show as a whole wasn't good enough for a nomination, but some of the actors I believe deserved recognition.Though I am happy that Michael Emerson is nominated again.

Season, I agree with you about Jennifer Carpenter. The first 2 seasons, the character of Debra annoyed me and I didn't think JC was strong enough in her scenes with some of the other actors, but in my opinion she really came into her own this season! She had a big storyline and she did an amazing job with it. I still remember an amazing scene she had from like episode 5 or 6 where she went back to the place Lundy was killed and just broke down in the parking lot in front of Dexter. I remember how powerful it was and she really made me feel Debra's pain. It was the first time that Debra didn't annoy the hell out of me.

I watched about 5 episodes of Dexter but couldn't keep up with it anymore.  I plan to catch it on dvd like I do every year.

WOW "Dexter" had the most shocking and amazing season finale in television history Sunday night....  Hats off to the writers , directors, actors that made this season of "Dexter" the Best show of the year.  John Lithgow's portrayal of Arthur Mitchell the serial killer was incredible to watch.   I'm very confused however that "Lost" was once again left out of the mix...how dare them!!  Happy to see "Modern Family" nominated for best comedy right beside my other favorite show "The Office" Steve Carell deserves to win again as well.  Cheers to Anna Panquin & "True Blood another stellar season well worth the nomination.  Tired of "House" & Mad Men I believe they are way over-rated and boring compared to the other nominees...just my opinion !!!!

I love Mad Men.  I've only seen the first two seasons and the first episode of season 3.  I know its very slow but to me its so interesting.  I love Elizabeth Moss and January Jones in that show.  Jon Hamm is also fantastic.  I'm kinda surprised that a show like has enough viewers to stay on tv.  I just started watched a few episodes of Lost Season 5 on Netflix and my mind has completly melted.  I think I need to watch them again to know what in the world they are talking about.  Lost to me is like a really hard AP class in high school that I would never be allowed in.  I need a Lost tutor.

Something is wrong in the world if John Lithgow doesnt win best supporting actor. He was spot on in every single scene. Not even a throw away line or moment. I sat captivated and horrified every moment the man was on air! He replaced Hannibal Lector as my all time favorite serial killer (well I still love Dexter Morgan, but who doesnt love a lovable serial killer?) Any win for Dexter is a win for the best show on tv and it's best season.
And go Jane Lynch! She adds enough bitterness to Glee to compensate for the most sachrine sweet tv show in history (my secret pleasure show..... btw it takes a couple episodes to really appreciate the show. The season ender was great).
