Will SOAPnet Pick Up One Tree Hill?

Melrose Place is as good as canned, but could One Tree Hill be headed for SOAPnet if The CW doesn't renew it? According to Spoiler TV it may just happen.

One Tree Hill: There are some messy contracts and negotiations and it could go either way but even if renewed it will likely have budget cuts and maybe lose more cast members and producers. SOAPnet has the option of renewing it if the CW were to cancel it.

Fans can reportedly expect official renewal announcements for Gossip Girl, 90210, Smallville, Supernatural, America's Next Top Model and The Vampire Diaries later this month.

Hasn't One Tree Hill ran its course already? Isn't this money better used to help the ABC soap lineup? Promoting OLTL perhaps...?

I think at most OTH deserves at least 1 final season (even just an 18 episode) to be able to properly rap things up nicely rather than be in the same situation as Ugly Betty having to rap things p in like 6 episodes, but I wouldn't mind seeing it on another channel

If anything personally for me if any shows should be facing cancellation it should be Gossip Girl cause it's been below OTH in the ratings practically all this season and it has definitely lost the spark that it once had, the show is in dire need of a revamp to add some new life into it.

I totally agree, Scout. And I'm a huge One Tree Hill fan too. But they have been stretching it these last couple years. Not a lot of new story and more contrived romantic entanglements. It pains me to say it, but it has gotten boring. Let everyone move on. I would love to hear more of Bethany Joy Galeotti's music! In my mind, it will be really tough to top the season 4 finale.

I looove my One Tree Hill, but it needs to go.  The first four seasons were great IMO, and the following were still okay, and I was already so involved with the characters that I didn't mind if the story wasn't that good, but now, even my dearly beloved Haley and Brooke can't change the fact that they don't have any more good stories to tell.

But this doesnt make any sense, doesnt OTH have better ratings than Gossip Girl and well every other show thats not "Top Model, and Vampire Diaries"? Why would they cancel it other than the fact that the current cast might be more expensive I can't see a reason. The WB did this once before and it blew up in there faces, they canelled shows that had better ratings for shows like Gossip Girl, The Moutain, and countless others that underpreformed. Oh and if SoapNet picks up OTH I will be ticked off though GL probably cost half of what OTH cost to film and they "claimed" they couldnt afford that, plus theres no new season of Night Shift because of that to.

Sad that MP might be cancelled. Sad that 90210 might get renewed when it's pure crap.

Katie, the reason One Tree Hill is on the bubble is very similar to why CBS opted to cancel Knots Landing when it was still a hit. Even though ratings for OTH are good by CW standards, the longer a show stays on the air, the more expensive it is to produce. Writers, actors, etc. get raises, licensing fees go up. That's also why you see cast guttings with long running shows, i.e. what happened when OTH wrote off their main couple or when Dallas got rid of Linda Gray after replacing her with cheap, young blondes.

I think OTH has been really good this season. I honestly do not miss the former leads at all. I would like to see it on the CW for one more season, shortened or not, so that it can get the proper send off.

SoapNET would just ruin it IMO.

I find it DISGUUUUUUSTING that Soap Not would pick up a CW show, when The Guiding Light is out, ATWT is leaving and OLTL will probably be axed in a year.

SOAPNOT NEEDS TO DO EVERYONE A FAVOR AND STOP CALLING THEMSELVES THIS NETWORK. Just stop showing Soaps altogether!

SOAPNOT IS JUST A POOR MAN'S VERSION OF 'LIFETIME' ANYWAY.

Disgusting, Disgusting, Disgusting. Not suprising since it's an ABC thing.

And it's funny. The DT Emmy's need a TV Carrier? Notice Soapnot hasn't been mentioned in the running.

Idiots.

I'm smarter than this and DO NOT WATCH SOAPNOT!

I like Melrose Place.  I'm kind of sad to see it go.  By the way why hasn't a new episode aired this year?

America's Top Model and 90210 should get cancelled take the money and give it to One Tree Hill which has better writing. Melrose Place needs some overhaul but it still has got potential. The newbie Life Unexpected is really terrific as long as Supernatural can maintain its stellar writing another season would be great.
